About Grant

Grant is a town in Marshall County set on top of Gunter Mountain in the foothills of the Appalachians, with views of Guntersville Lake, the Tennessee River and historic Kennamer Cove. It sits between Guntersville, Scottsboro and Huntsville.

Grant takes its name from its post office, established on May 18, 1887 and named for President Ulysses S. Grant. The town incorporated on November 15, 1945.

Grant is home to the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, established in 1924 and the only K-12 school in the United States owned and operated by the Daughters of the American Revolution. The school is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
